Construction

Vance Faulkenberg, one of the original owners, still puts in some hours here at the shop from time to time.

He lives out of state but when he is in town he helps us out.
His latest project was installing a sliding door in the delivery area of the shop.

To make sure he didn't goof off to much his wife, Ila, kept a close eye on him for us.

Herron Students Tour

Yesterday we had some students from the Herron School of Art tour the shop.

Jim took them around the shop and they were invited to ask any questions about printing as they toured.
There were 31 students who came to visit us yesterday.

Tom Faulkenberg shows them our letter presses.

He demonstrated scoring to them on a the Heidelberg.
The letterpress also diecuts, perforates, and numbers as well as being able to print.

While the students toured the shop Jim had me make them some notes cards to remember their visit to the shop and give them a sample of our work.

Jim Faulkenberg is showing them the bindery area and explaining how we fold signatures up to make a book.
Jim had also given them some samples of printing, in its various stages, while they were touring the shop.

Each student got a package of note cards with envelopes before leaving.

Here they are enjoying their note cards before they left the shop.

We did notice that while I was taking the group picture Tommy C. had sneaked into the group picture.
He says we will miss him when he is gone.
What a goober.
